FLIP AND THE ENVIRONMENT

WE CARE

FLIP is committed to doing everything we can to minimize the impact we have on the environment. It is an ongoing effort that we continually focus on, and while we—like many other companies—still have a long way to go, our efforts do make a difference.

TREES ARE OUR FRIENDS

PAPERLESS COMPANY

FLIP Insurance is at the forefront of insurance companies in greatly reducing the amount of paper we use. We have worked hard to ensure that all policy documents are available digitally. That has been our policy from the beginning.

Since the first day FLIP Insurance began, we have saved 722,658 sheets of paper.

DOING WHAT WE CAN

RECYCLING

Any paper that we absolutely must use in the office is recycled to ensure that the impact on trees is as minimal as possible.

FACT: Experts estimate that recycling one ton of paper can save 17 trees, 7,000 gallons of water, 380 gallons of oil, 3.3 cubic yards of landfill space and 4,000 kilowatts of energy—that’s enough to power the average U.S. home for six months.

SMALL CHANGES LEAD TO BIG RESULTS

DECREASING PLASTIC CUPS

We used to have plastic disposable cups for our employees to get drinks. The amount of cups we went through each day was embarrassing and made us decide there was definitely a better way. Now, each employee is given their own drinking plastic cup that is not only made from recycled plastic, but it also allowed us to eliminate the use of those throwaway cups entirely.

FACT: It takes 500–1,000 years for plastic to degrade.

FACT: Enough plastic is thrown away each year to circle the earth 4 times.

FACT: The average American throws away approximately 185 pounds of plastic each year.

We’ve even taken an extra step by encouraging our employees to take their cups home and wash it with a full load instead of wasting water everyday to clean their cup.

HYDROFLASK

Utilizing products such as Hydroflask’s water bottles to reduce the amount of waste your produce is a great way to protect and preserve the environment.

NOT JUST PAPER

RECYCLING

Soda cans, water bottles, plastic, cardboard, and many other items we use in the office used to just end up in the trash. Not anymore! These items can all be recycled and reused, and we work hard to make sure anything that doesn’t have to be thrown in the trash (and eventually sent to a landfill) is recycled. FACT: Nearly 30% of “trash” in landfills is paper, 18% is food scraps, and 16% is plastics. FACT: The Great Pacific Garbage Patch is a floating “island” of plastic in the middle of the Pacific Ocean. Its size is estimated to be larger than the state of Texas.

PURCHASING RECYCLED PRODUCTS

WE BUY ONLY THE BEST

In addition to recycling products we use in the office, we also make sure that office supplies and other products we use are made from recycled material. From staplers and scissors to garbage liners and dry erase markers, Veracity is proud of its commitment to keep the office as green as possible.

WE’VE TAKEN STEPS TO GO GREEN. WE’RE NOT DONE YET.

RECYCLING

From the very beginning we worked to reduce the amount of paper we use. Now, while we are not as green as we would like to be, we are taking significant steps to ensure that any footprints we leave are as green as possible. We feel that it is our responsibility to protect the earth’s natural resources, and we strive to be the leader in eventually eliminating the use of paper in the insurance industry and converting all policy paper documents to digital documents.
